What's the best way to handle frizz in Surfside's humidity?
Surfside's coastal humidity is intense! Our keratin smoothing treatments (starting at $295) are absolute game-changers for fighting frizz and are by far our most requested humidity solution. These treatments last 3 to 5 months, eliminate 90 to 95% of frizz, and seriously cut down your styling time. We also recommend our glossing treatments that seal your hair and keep humidity out between keratin appointments. If you want a permanent solution, we offer Japanese straightening. During your consultation, we'll look at your hair and recommend the best option for keeping your style smooth all year, especially during those humid summer months.
How long will I be at the salon for balayage?
Most balayage appointments take 2.5 to 4 hours depending on how long your hair is, your starting color, and what result you want. This includes talking about what you want, the actual application (hand-painting takes longer than regular foil highlights), processing time, toning to get the perfect color, and a full blow-dry and style. We never rush balayage because it's an art that takes time to get those perfectly blended, natural-looking results. We recommend booking a balayage on a day when you can relax and enjoy the process. You'll leave with gorgeous hair that's totally camera-ready!
Do you offer free consultations?
Yes! We offer free consultations for all services, and we really encourage them especially for extensions, big color changes, and color corrections. During your consultation, we'll talk in detail about what you want for your hair, look at your current hair condition and health, recommend specific services and methods, show you hair samples if that's helpful, and give you clear pricing before you decide anything. How do I take care of extensions when I'm at the beach all the time?
Great question! Surfside's beach lifestyle requires specific extension care. Here's what we recommend: use sulfate-free, extension-safe shampoos and conditioners; put on UV-protective leave-in treatments before going in the sun; rinse your hair with fresh water right after swimming in the ocean or pool; sleep with your hair in a loose braid so it doesn't tangle; and come in for maintenance appointments every 6 to 8 weeks. We'll also recommend specific products made for our coastal climate. When you take proper care of your extensions, they'll keep looking beautiful for the full 8 to 12 weeks between installations.
Can I still go to the beach and pool with extensions?
Absolutely! When you take care of them properly, good quality extensions can definitely handle beach and pool activities. We have tons of Surfside clients who swim all the time. The key is rinsing your hair with fresh water immediately after being in the ocean or pool, using protective products before swimming, and doing weekly clarifying treatments to get rid of salt and chlorine buildup. We use premium Remy hair that's much stronger than regular extensions, and we give you special products designed for active, beach-loving people. Many of our clients enjoy paddle boarding, beach volleyball, surfing, and swimming without messing up their extensions.

Definitely! If you're switching from another salon, bring photos of your current extensions or color and we'll match them exactly. For extensions, we can look at what you currently have to make sure the color matching is perfect. For color, bring pictures of what you love (and what you don't like) so we can recreate or improve your current look. Our consultation process makes sure we're totally aligned before we start any service.
Do you do hair for weddings at Surfside venues?
Yes! We work with brides all the time who are getting married at Surfside and nearby venues. Our bridal packages include trial styling, wedding day services (at our salon or we can come to your location), styling for your bridesmaids and moms, and extension services if you want extra volume and length. We work with your schedule and coordinate with your venue and photographer so everything goes smoothly. Contact us as soon as you know your wedding date so we can talk about your vision!
What if I need to cancel my appointment?
We ask for 48 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule any service. For extension appointments, we need 72 hours notice because of all the special prep and time involved. If you cancel late or don't show up, there might be a cancellation fee (50% of what the service costs). We totally understand that emergencies happen. Do you have payment plans available?
Yes! For services over $500, we have flexible payment plans through Afterpay and Klarna. This lets you split your payment into smaller, interest-free installments. We take all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover), debit cards, cash, Venmo, Zelle, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. This makes luxury extensions more affordable while still keeping the highest quality.
What if something goes wrong with my extensions?
Text or call us right away at (305) 877-7706! If you're an existing client having an extension emergency (loose beads, tangling, etc.), we'll get you in as fast as possible, usually same-day or the next day. For color emergencies, we'll schedule an urgent consultation to look at what's happening and make a plan to fix it. We've successfully fixed hundreds of hair problems and we're here to help!
Can I just walk in without an appointment?
While we suggest booking ahead (especially for extensions and color with our master stylists), we do take walk-ins when we have availability. Text or call us at (305) 877-7706 and we'll check our schedule! For quick services like blowouts or express treatments, walk-ins are often possible during weekday mornings.
How often should I come back for color maintenance?
It depends on what service you get and what you prefer, but here's what we usually recommend for Surfside clients:
Root touch-ups: Every 4 to 6 weeks for full gray coverage
Regular highlights: Every 6 to 8 weeks
Balayage: Every 10 to 16 weeks (it grows out naturally without obvious roots)
